2014 Film Series - Open to the public
Several films are scheduled to be shown at Penn State Schuylkill for this spring as part of the campus's 80th anniversary celebration. The first event is a movie titled, 12 Years a Slave. This film tells the story of a New York state born free Negro kidnapped in Washington, D.C., in 1841, and sold into slavery. The movie recounts the main character's life as he worked on a plantation for twelve years before his release. This film was nominated for seven Golden Globes, winning Best Motion Picture Drama. The movie is rated R and will be shown at 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2013, in the John E. Morgan Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
