Greeting from the Academic Advising Center at Penn State Schuylkill!!
Establishing a strong working relationship with your academic advisor is one of the best things you can do to promote success in your university experience/education. This is especially true during your first year. Your academic advisor will help you to navigate these waters until you are more comfortable. However, the responsibility lies with you to seek your advisor's assistance in times of need. Times of need include: scheduling for an upcoming semester, making schedule changes, developing an educational plan to achieve your goals, academic difficulties, major exploration, a guide to campus resources, personal concerns, graduation plans, etc... The opportunities to work with your advisor are limited only by you. If your advisor cannot address your concern, he/she will surely be able to guide you to those who can.
Find your Academic Advisor by going to Elion and clicking on Adviser Information on the menu or contact the Advising Center.
Penn State Schuylkill's Advising Center provides the maximum service to students. Penn State can be challenging to navigate. DUS advisors and counselors can help steer you in the right direction.
The Division of Undergraduate Studies/Advising Center provides:
- Academic Advising……
- Course selection/scheduling, drop/add/late-drop and withdrawal
- Information and resources regarding programs and majors
- Change of major, entrance to major, or major selection

The basic tasks of the University's academic advising program are to help advisees identify and achieve their academic goals, to promote intellectual discovery, to encourage students to take advantage of both in-and out-of class educational opportunities, and to become self-directed learners and decision makers.
