Students to present at the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol conference
Penn State has selected two Schuylkill students to present their research at the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol – Pennsylvania Poster Conference on March 11, 2014. Students from colleges and universities across the commonwealth will present their research and meet with state legislators on the day of the event.
Penn State Schuylkill Honors students, Stacy Koperna and Harnoor Singh, will present their poster titled, Why Does Tree-of-Heaven Produce Toxic Chemicals? Dr. Rod Heisey, professor of biology, and Dr. Darcy Medica, associate professor of biology and coordinator of the Undergrad Research and Creative Accomplishments Program, are the students’ faculty research mentors. According to Dr. Medica, “This is an honor for our students, since Penn State is allowed to submit only eight abstracts. Stacy and Harnoor were chosen from among their peers across all of the Penn State campuses to represent the University at this statewide event.”
