Penn State Schuylkill: Directions

General Directions

Allentown, PA

• Take most convenient route to I-78 W
• Take exit 29B (PA- 61 North, Pottsville)
• The campus is located about fifteen minutes from the exit on University Drive, at the fifth traffic light. The campus and the main drive are on your right
• Trip Time: Approximately 1 hour

Harrisburg

• Take most convenient route to I-81N toward Allentown/I-78
• Continue on I-81N to the I-78/I-81 split
• Make a slight right to I-78E (follow signs for I-78/Allentown)
• Take exit 17 (PA-419)
• Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Pottsville and merge onto Four Points Rd (PA-419)
• Continue to follow PA-183 for approximately 10 miles
• Make a right at Pottsville St. to continue to follow PA-183 (this turn is at a red light)
• Make a right at PA-61, the next red light
• The campus is located just a few minutes from your turn onto PA-61 on the left. You will pass through one additional red light after you turn onto PA-61. Make a left at the next red light, onto University Drive which has a left turn lane,.

Lancaster/Lebanon

• Take most convenient route to PA-501N
• Take I-78 E toward Allentown
• Take exit 29B (PA- 61 North, Pottsville)
• The campus is located about fifteen minutes from the exit on University Drive, at the fifth traffic light. The campus and the main drive are on your right
• Trip Time: Approximately 1 hour & 15 minutes (Lancaster)

Maryland (Central)/Washington D.C. Area

• Take the most convenient route to I-83N
• Take exit 51B to merge onto I-81N toward Allentown/I-78
• Make a slight right at I-78E(follow signs for I-78/Allentown)
• Take exit 17 (PA-419)
• Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Pottsville and merge onto Four Points Rd (PA-419)
• Continue to follow PA-183 for approximately 10 miles
• Make a right to continue to follow PA-183 at Pottsville St (this turn is at a red light)
• Make a right at PA-61, the next red light
• The campus is located just a few minutes from your turn onto PA-61 on the left. You will pass through one additional red light after you turn onto PA-61. Make a left at the next red light, which has a left turn lane, onto University Drive.

• Take the most convenient route to I-287 S
• Merge onto I-78 W into Pennsylvania
• Take exit 29B (PA-61 North, Pottsville)

New Jersey( Southern)

• Take the most convenient route to I-76 W
• Take exit 331B to merge onto 1-476N
• Take exit 56 to merge onto US-22 W toward I-78 (Harrisburg)
• Continue on I-78W
• Take Interstate 78 West, then exit 29B (PA-61 North, Pottsville)
• The campus is located about fifteen minutes from the exit on University Drive, at the fifth traffic light. The campus and the main drive are on your right

New York City/Long Island

• Take most convenient route to I-78 W in New Jersey, then into Pennsylvania.
• Take exit 29B (PA- 61 North, Pottsville)

Philadelphia

• Take the most convenient route to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I-76W
• Take Exit 331B to merge onto I-476N

Reading

• Take PA-61 N toward Pottsville
• After a passing over I- 78 at Hamburg, stay on Route 61 North
• The campus is located about fifteen minutes from the I-78 overpass on University Drive, at the fifth traffic light. The campus and the main drive are on your right
• Trip Time: Approximately 30 minutes

University Park

• Take the most convenient route to I-80 E
• Take I-80 E to Exit 33 (PA-54 South to Danville)
• Follow Route 54 through Danville; it ends at Route 61 outside Mount Carmel.
• Follow PA- 61 South through Ashland, Frackville, Saint Clair and Pottsville.
• Outside of Pottsville, in Cressona will be a shopping center to your right. The campus is three traffic lights from this shopping center.
• Make a left at the third red light, which has a left turn lane, onto University Drive.
• Trip Time: Approximately2 hours & 30 minutes

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

• Take the most convenient route I-81 S
• Take Exit 124A (PA-61 S to Pottsville)
• Continue on PA-61through Saint Clair and then Pottsville
• Outside of Pottsville, in Cressona will be a shopping center to your right. The campus is three traffic lights from this shopping center.
• Make a left at the third red light, which has a left turn lane, onto University Drive.
• Trip Time: Approximately 1 hour (Wikes-Barre),
• Trip Time: Approximately 1 hour & 20 minutes (Scranton)

Public Transportation Resources

Buses to Penn State Schuylkill

From New York: Students can get a Bieber bus at the Port Authority which will go to Reading, PA. From Reading, PA students can simply switch over to a Capitol Trailways bus, which has a stop at the Penn State Schuylkill campus.
From Philadelphia: Students can get a Capitol Trailways bus near The Gallery, which has a stop at the Penn State Schuylkill campus.
