Answers to the most commonly asked questions about housing at Penn State Schuylkill

If I receive a housing contract offer does that mean I am guaranteed a space?

All new students with a home address further than 50 miles from Penn State Schuylkill are required to live in the Nittany Apartments. 

I paid the $230 enrollment fee to the University but I did not get a housing offer in the mail.  What should I do?

What happens when housing is full?

Nittany Apartment housing is a popular choice for students. When all double-occupancy rooms are filled, we have a percentage of rooms that are considered tripled bedrooms.  Students will be assigned to these rooms based on admission date to the University.  As spaces in housing become available throughout the semester, students in tripled rooms will be reassigned to a standard room. 

What are the rental rates for the Nittany Apartments?

Rental rates for fall 2014 - spring 2015 are $2943 (Nittany 1-4) or $2996 (Nittany 5) per person, per semester, for a double occupancy bedroom.  Rates include electric, water, sewer, trash removal, local phone, basic cable, and full internet access.

Is everyone attending Penn State Schuylkill eligible for housing in the Nittany Apartments?

Residents must be a full-time degree seeking student taking a minimum of 12 credits.

Can I request a specific roommate?

Roommates of the same gender are assigned by the housing manager based on the hobby & interests information as submitted on the housing contract whenever possible.  Roommate requests will only be honored if both parties request each other.

When will I know my apartment assignment?

Student housing assignments will be available approximately one month before the beginning of the fall semester. The room assignment will include contact information of all the students assigned to your apartment.

What are the conditions for canceling my contract?

Cancellation must submitted, from the student, to Kim Quinn, housing manager, either via email at kab239@psu.edu, or in writing via U.S. Mail addressed to The Schuylkill Campus Advisory Board, 200 University Drive, Schuylkill Haven, PA  17972. Only students deciding not to attend Penn State Schuylkill will receive a security deposit refund.  Security deposit refund checks will be issued to the student, if applicable. Please refer to the Terms, Conditions & Regulations for deadlines and refund amounts.

What if I need special accommodations?

Please indicate any special housing needs in the space provided on your contract.

When can I move in? 

Fall 2014 move-in day for new students is Friday, August 22 beginning at 10:00 am.
