The Housing Office of Penn State Schuylkill Campus has compiled this information to assist parents with questions concerning student apartment living. Fall 2012 Move-in day for FRESHMAN is Friday, August 24 beginning at 10:00 am.

Each bedroom is furnished with 2 beds, 2 dressers, 2 desks and a large walk-in closet. The beds are TWIN XL size and may be converted into bunk beds.  Students must bring their own bedding and pillows.

Each apartment is equipped with a land-line telephone as part of the Housing Contract.  The phone number will be listed in your move-in packet mailed to you in late July. The cost of local calls and room-to-room calls, as well as 911 service is included in the housing cost.  Students are encouraged to bring a pre-paid calling card for long distance toll calls or use a personal cell phone.

All buildings are wired (ethernet cord required) for free internet access through the Penn State Office of Telecommunications.  All apartments have television cable capability in the living room and each bedroom.  Cable subscription costs are NOT included in the Housing contract. Students may bring their own television and contact the local cable company to set up an account.  If you desire cable service upon arrival, call Comcast Cable Services in Pottsville, PA at 1-800-266-2278.  Splicing of cables between bedrooms and apartments is strictly prohibited.

The apartments have blinds on each window.  Students may bring throw rugs for the kitchen and bathroom areas.  If you are interested in bringing area rugs for the apartment, the bedroom is 10 x 18 and the living room is 13 x 19.  Lamps for bedside and living room end tables are also recommended.

A full size refrigerator and stove are in each kitchen.  Cookware, utensils, plates, cups etc. are NOT furnished. Paper products are recommended. Students may bring a kitchen microwave (only 1 per apartment), toaster, can opener, and mini refrigerator (only 1 per bedroom if not already provided).

Every apartment has sufficient outlets for stereos, computers, and other equipment.

Each apartment has a large storage closet to be shared by all roommates.

A laundry facility is located in each building.  Students must use LionCash on their PSU ID card to pay for laundry.
