What is the Bursar?
The Bursar is the person at a college or university who is responsible for the collection of tuition payments.
The office is located on the second floor of the Business Services Building.
Bursar Office Hours
The Bursar office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the semester, we offer extended hours until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
How to Pay Your Tuition BillDeferred Payment Plan
Penn State’s deferred payment plan allows students to defer payment of two-thirds of their semester bill. This allows you to pay over a period of three months, paying one-third of the semester charges each month. The first third of tuition and fees are payable by the due date of the semester bill, and the remaining two-thirds is payable over the subsequent two months. There is a $45 fee to use this plan, payable with the first one-third payment.
Credit Card Payments
Credit card payments can be paid through eLion only. There is a 2.5% convenience fee for each payment processed with a credit card. We cannot accept credit cards through the mail, phone, or in person. MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express are accepted on eLion.
Tuition can be paid directly from a personal checking account drawn on a U.S. bank. An eCheck will appear on your monthly statement as PENN STATE UNIV PAYMENT. There is no fee to pay by eCheck.
Check, Cash, Money Order
Tuition can be paid by mail or in person in room 204 of the Business Services Building. Print a remittance stub from eLion and mail it with check or money order (payable to Penn State) to:
