Valerie Plame Wilson ’85, former CIA operations officer and Penn State alumna

A former covert CIA operations officer, Valerie Plame Wilson worked to protect America’s national security. Without warning, she found herself at the center of a political firestorm after senior White House and State Department officials revealed her secret status to several national journalists and compromised her covert identity. Wilson has since become a public advocate and authority on issues of national security and politics. Join other Penn Staters for dinner and a tour of the International Spy Museum, followed by Wilson’s remarks on her life as a spy and her thoughts regarding the CIA leak controversy in an insightful and unforgettable presentation.

Michael Doncheski began his academic career at Penn State Schuylkill in 1981; he earned his B.S. in physics from Penn State in 1985 and his Ph.D. in theoretical physics, also from Penn State, in 1990. He then accepted postdoctoral positions with the Phenomenology Group at the University of Wisconsin - Madison as a Visiting Assistant Professor from 1990-93 and at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada as a Canada International Fellow and Research Associate from 1993-96. He returned to Penn State in 1996, as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Penn State Mont Alto. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002 and to Professor in 2006. He was awarded the 2000 Penn State Mont Alto Faculty Scholar Award, the 2004-05 Commonwealth College Outstanding Research or Creative Accomplishment Award and the 2008 Martha A. Fisher Award for Excellence in Teaching.
He served as Interim Director of Academic Affairs at Penn State Mont Alto during Fall semester 2008 and again beginning March 2010. He was appointed Director of Academic Affairs at Penn State Mont Alto in May 2011.
Dr. Doncheski visited the Schuylkill Campus on November 4, 2011 and was an Alumni Mentor Luncheon speaker and a guest lecturer in the Physics classes. In addition, he was honored at a dinner hosted by the Schuylkill Alumni Society Board.
The Blue and White Society at Penn State Schuylkill sponsored the "S Zone" at the Men's and Women's Basketball games on January 31 and February 2, 2012. Students were given special tee-shirts provided the Schuylkill Alumni Society.
Alumni that participated in the Drama Theatre Productions over the last ten years are invited back by the Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society to the "10 Anniversary" Celebration on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Thomas W. Wylonis, Ph.D., a 1967 graduate of Penn State, is the 2012 Scholarship Dinner speaker. Dr. Wylonis is an Adjunct Professor of Innovation, a professional board member and investor at technology companies, the former Director of Executive Education at SIMI, and a retired McKinsey Director.
